As SmartShape's VP of Innovation and Business Strategy, David helps guide both early stage and established businesses through strategic marketing and innovation methods that can tangibly identify market opportunities and drive top and bottom line growth.

David’s deep knowledge in growth strategy development (markets, segmentation, value creation), product and service offering development, go-to-market strategies and brand tactics, provide insightful and practical perspectives that helps companies of all sizes achieve their ambitious goals.  His diverse background as a former Fortune 100 marketing executive, tech entrepreneur, turn-around specialist, revenue strategist, professional engineer, management consultant, and sales force leader helps clients “connect the dots” between ideas, product development, and revenue generation.

David received his MBA with an emphasis on Strategy and Organizational Development from the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University and he holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.   Professionally he has led multiple businesses across a variety of markets to implement innovation and embark on a growth trajectory.  

He has Co-Chaired Honeywell International’s Global Big Data Symposium and instructed and provided mentorship at Honeywell's prestigious Leadership Development Program for high potential global executives.  David is a founding partner of Blue Fire Beacon, a strategic marketing and business advisory firm focused on helping clients innovate and find a path to growth.  He is a Six Sigma Greenbelt and customer experience expert.

He was on the Board of Directors of enterprise software company Primal Solutions for eight years and is currently on the Board of Directors of spirits innovator Cleveland Whiskey.
