SmartShape Designer Pete Whitworth Teaches Wearable Tech to 8th Grade Students at Science Camp

On February 18, SmartShape industrial designer Pete led a presentation on wearable technology aimed at the young, but brilliant, minds participating in Great Lakes Science Center's current science camp class.. The presentation, held at the Global Center for Health Innovation, covered the following:

  • An introduction to SmartShape Design.
  • An introduction to wearables — what is a wearable and what is it made of?
  • A breakdown/deep dive on the components of a wearable device, including a tear down of the components that make up TempTraq and Everykey products.
  • A brief share on the skills and education required to become an industrial designer, mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, UX/UI designer and software developer.
